Subaru BRZ Premium Sport Edition

The Subaru BRZ gets a special edition in the shape of the JDM Premium Sport

The Subaru BRZ Premium Sport Edition has been revealed. A special edition of the front-engine, rear-drive sports coupe for the Japanese market, it’s a plusher version of the car that usually thrives on its simplicity.

A set of 17in STI black alloy wheels complement new metallic paint schemes (the car pictured boasting something we imagine is called ‘midnight blue’ or suchlike) while the interior is two-tone black and tan, the steering wheel, gearstick and handbrake also getting contrasting stitching.

Other additions include aluminium pedals and carbonfibre dashboard trim. There’s no word on power and chassis upgrades, firmly suggesting that the BRZ’s boxer 2-litre flat-four engine stays pegged at 197bhp and 151lb ft, outputs which hustle its 1230kg kerb weight from 0-60 in 7.6sec, while the top speed is rated at 140mph. Six-speed manual and automatic transmission options remain.

Available exclusively in Japan, the Premium Sport Edition goes on sale at the end of 2013. Prices start at 3,034,500 yen, which is less than £20,000. The standard BRZ costs £24,995 in the UK, proving just what impact the exchange rate has on our prices.
