Nismo and Williams road cars

Nissan's Nismo performance arm partners up with Williams for road car projects

Nissan’s Nismo performance brand will partner up with Williams on future road car projects. Both companies announced the news this morning, and have confirmed their first product will appear in 2014.

No further details on its identity have been revealed, save for the fact Williams developed cars will be of higher performance and further away from the mainstream than the current range, which has so far underwhelmed slightly in the form of the Juke Nismo and 370Z Nismo. Whether we see a Juke Williams, 370Z Williams, GT-R Williams, or a complete standalone product remains to be seen.

Williams Advanced Engineering – picked for its expertise in aerodynamics, simulation and material science – is a division of the Williams Group made famous by its Formula 1 team, and has recently worked on the now stillborn Jaguar C-X75 hybrid supercar.

Sir Frank Williams, Founder and Team Principal said ‘Williams Advanced Engineering has a history of developing world class, high performance products and this agreement is particularly exciting because of the ambition and potential of the Nismo brand. Both parties share a passion for racing and cutting edge technology and this collaboration will see us work closely together to develop cars that will be at the forefront of automotive technology.’
