Subaru Legacy

Subaru's Legacy celebrates 20 years with a brand new model at New York

The brand new Subaru Legacy has been revealed at New York. It is the first time it’s been seen in production form, following the dramatic concept shown at the Detroit show back in January.

The car celebrates two decades of the Legacy, and its big unveil in the States is a clue to where it enjoys most success. In fact, Subaru as a whole is doing far better in the US than other territories at the moment with its range of big cars and predominantly petrol engines better received by American markets than European ones.

As a result, engines range from a 170bhp 2.5-litre flat four to a 256bhp 3.6-litre flat six, while there’s also a turbocharged version of the former boasting 287bhp. When the car hits the UK around September, expect most attention (and, indeed, sales) to focus around a version with Subaru’s 145bhp 2-litre boxer diesel.

Expect prices to kick off at around £20,000 when it hits our roads in the autumn.
