TechArt releases new front axle lift system for Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman

The ability to increase the TechArt 718’s ride-height now makes the firm’s lower springs and body modifications more appealing

German Porsche tuner TechArt has added a nose lift system to its 718 Boxster and Cayman upgrade package. The kit, that consists of sport springs as well as hydraulic cylinders, complements the lower ride-height and more pronounced bodykit that TechArt already supplies for Porsche’s mid-engined turbocharged sports cars.

TechArt’s 718 nose lift comes with the firm’s sport spring kit, the whole package consists of lower and firmer front and rear springs (as well as a helper spring for the front axle), two hydraulic cylinders and a hydraulic pump unit. If you choose to fit the lift system yourself it comes with an installation kit and instructions, too.

The lift gives an additional 60mm of ground clearance at the front, more than enough to raise the car over pesky speed bumps, clear most curbs and to increase the ramp angle enough to get into steep multi-storey car parks. It’ll be very useful for preserving the TechArt two-piece front lip, if you’ve also chosen to add that to your 718 too. And why wouldn’t you? TechArt’s body modifications add some much needed aggression to Porsche’s entry-level sports cars and give them an almost Porsche Motorsport/GT look. The front lift kit would seem indispensable, especially if you’ve chosen to have the front lip in carbonfibre.

When we drove the TechArt’s 718 Boxster we enjoyed many of the chassis tweaks, the car felt sharper and even more predictable. The ride was slightly busier, but the reduced ground clearance is the biggest potential issue with the kit. TechArt’s sport springs reduce the ground clearance of a standard Boxster by 35mm, or 25mm in cars fitted with Porsche Active Suspension Management. The lift kit allows the front to rise 25mm higher than that of a standard 718 with fixed suspension. 

TechArt hasn’t divulged a weight figure for the new package, but with the firm’s power upgrade for the 718 Boxster S – that increases performance from 345bhp to 394bhp and torque from 310lb ft to 354lb ft – should easily compensate any extra kilos.
