Not too long ago the Shanghai motor show was the ideal destination to spot slightly audacious clones of popular European cars. Nowadays, it’s taken exceedingly seriously by both manufacturers and commentators alike.  Several of the world’s car brands – including Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and Citroen – debuted key new models in China, while the homegrown manufacturers’ game has moved on measurably. There are still quirks and oddballs, of course, and the picture gallery below combines the hits and misses; the good, the bad and the ugly of the 2013 Shanghai motor show.
