Zenos teases E10 R sports car in new video

More powerful version of E10 could produce 300bhp when it arrives in 2016

Zenos Cars has released a video previewing a new, more potent version of its E10 sports car due for arrival next year. Called the E10 R, it’ll produce more power and feature an evolved version of Zenos’s carbon-aluminium E series chassis. 

The carmaker has remained tight lipped about the E10 R’s specifications, but the teaser video (view it on Zenos's homepage here) does reveal a few of its features. Firstly, it shows that the car sits on a set of OZ Ultraleggera forged alloy wheels, suggesting weight saving has remained a priority. And perhaps more significantly, Chris Weston, Zenos’s head of development, hints that power could have increased by 50bhp over the S. 

If you listen carefully, you’ll hear Weston say that the car’s power hike continues the trend seen with previous models. And given that the naturally aspirated E10 produced 200bhp and then the turbocharged E10 S boosted that to 250bhp, it means we could be looking at a 300bhp E10 R.

Whether that extra grunt comes from a new engine or an uprated version of the E10 S’s turbocharged 2-litre unit remains to be seen, but either way, it should see power-to-weight grow from 350bhp/ton – already enough to top the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Ferrari FF – to as much as 420bhp/ton – identical to the Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta.

We won’t know the true specification of the Zenos until more is confirmed in the coming weeks, but if our predictions are correct, the E10 R could be one serious track weapon. Be sure to check back here for updates – we’ll update this page when we know more.
