Jaguar Land Rover boss Thierry Bolloré resigns for personal reasons

Bolloré was tasked with guiding JLR through its electrification journey

Jaguar Land Rover chief executive officer Thierry Bolloré has resigned, citing personal reasons two years after he was installed in the top job.

Responsible for JLR’s transition to electrification, he was leading the brand on an immensely ambitious path that included a total reimagination of both brands. In the case of Land Rover this path to electrification will be rolled out slowly, but Jaguar is on a path of total reinvention, introducing a totally new all-electric line up from 2025 with much higher price points than the existing range.

In a statement released by JLR, Mr Bolloré said: ‘I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together at Jaguar Land Rover over the last two years. The company's transformation and acceleration towards a sustainable, profitable future as a modern luxury business is underway at great pace. I would like to thank the whole team for their dedication and passion and I wish the entire organisation the very best for the future.’

Bolloré comes after a tenure in leading roles with Michelin and Renault, in the latter case acting as interim CEO after the scandal involving Renault’s former chief executive Carlos Ghosn.

Mr Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover plc said: ‘I want to thank Thierry for everything he has done at Jaguar Land Rover. The foundations for a successful transformation have been laid, leaving the company well poised for the future.’

Until Bolloré’s successor is chosen, JLR’s current CFO Adrian Mardell will take on the role of acting CEO.
