Caterham Lambretta Special Edition

Lambretta Clothing has teamed up with Caterham to create this special edition Seven.

It’s spring, which means the usual crop of drop-top special editions will soon be with us. Expect some sort of Mazda MX-5 with new paint, leather trim and maybe a wooden steering wheel.

But we doubt anyone will be doing anything quite as exuberant as the Caterham Lambretta Special Edition. It’s basically a Cool Britannia Seven, which makes it about ten years out of date, but at least it’s underpinned by the modern 1.6-litre 125bhp Ford Sigma engine, mated to a five speed manual and all the usual rear-drive accoutrements.

And you know what, the two brands actually sit pretty well together. Both have a similar retro feel, neither is ashamed to wave the Union Jack and there’s actually something rather magical about that red, white and blue cabin with its hand-stitched leather, Moto-Lita wheel and Lambretta badge. It’s quite a modish car, this Seven.

The press pics were taken in (where else?) Brighton, of course. It’s available now, priced at £26,995.
